Who Runs PixDNS
PixDNS is a free service run by a private operator. For any question about this policy or about your data, write to [email protected].
Data We Collect
When you use PixDNS, we may collect the following information:
- IP addresses (from server logs)
- Domain names you query
- Timestamp of queries
How We Use Your Data
We use collected data to: provide and maintain our service, monitor usage patterns, and improve user experience. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties.
Why We May Process This Data
Server logs and rate-limit counters are processed on the basis of legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): keeping the service available and preventing abuse. There is nothing to consent to, because PixDNS sets no tracking cookies and builds no profiles.
How Long We Keep It
Server logs are neither archived nor backed up: each service keeps a rolling buffer of at most 30 MB and overwrites the oldest entries as new ones arrive. Rate-limit counters expire after one minute. Cached DNS answers live only as long as the record's own TTL and record nothing about who asked for them. We keep no user accounts and no query history on our servers.
Local Storage
Your browser may store certain preferences locally using localStorage, including: theme settings, language preferences, and search history. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third parties: Plausible Analytics (cookieless, EU-hosted page-view statistics), Sentry (server-side error reports, only when enabled), Cloudflare (delivery and protection of the site) and Google Fonts, which serves the site's typefaces and therefore receives your IP address when a page loads.
Your Rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- ask what data we hold about you and receive a copy
- have inaccurate data corrected
- have your data erased
- object to processing based on legitimate interest
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Write to [email protected] to exercise any of these. If you believe we handle your data unlawfully, you may also lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in your country.
